Climaca Participates in Consultation by the Region of Thessaly on Agricultural Development (Larissa, 14/1/2025)

The Region of Thessaly has launched an important consultation aiming to shape a sustainable agricultural model that meets the needs and challenges of the area. The process involves stakeholders, agricultural associations, and experts related to agricultural production and water resource management. Participants are invited to share their opinions on the agricultural development plan based on models proposed for Thessaly by a research team from the University of Athens, as well as suggestions for enhancing production and the resilience of rural communities. Meetings will be held in all cities of Thessaly.

The Climaca research team, represented by Dr. Dimitris Borboudakis and Dr. Spyros Theodoridis, Research Associates of the BEYOND Operational Unit of the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications, and Remote Sensing of the National Observatory of Athens, actively participated in the event held in Larissa on January 14, 2025.

During the event, Climaca representatives engaged in discussions with stakeholders, agricultural associations, and the University of Athens research team, highlighting the crucial role of Climaca’s results in the comprehensive evaluation of the impact of sustainable agricultural practices on the health of agro – ecosystems. The Climaca project offers modern tools and methodologies that assist policymakers in assessing agro-ecological resilience, contributing to the creation of a sustainable agricultural development model.

Climaca is committed to monitoring developments in the Region of Thessaly and fostering synergies and collaborations with other stakeholders, projects, and initiatives. The goal is to maximize the utilization of its results to improve agricultural production, enhance the resilience of rural communities, and strengthen sustainability in the region.
